Ed. Note: I had no idea this was a thing. Did you are? Are there other spots that do/did credits? (not simply not charging you but giving you a 5/10 cents credit for using your own bag/s.

“Dear PoPville,

I recently went to the Logan Circle Whole Foods (P Street), and found out that they have stopped issuing reusable bag credit of 5 cents per bag beginning March 3. I feel like people need to know!

The refund has been around since 2010 when the DC Council passed the Anacostia River Clean Up and Protection Act of 2009. While the law does not require that businesses provide a reusable bag refund, it feels like poor taste to get rid of this program especially at a time when unemployment in DC is on an historic rise. It’d be great to put some pressure on the grocery chain to bring it back!”
